Mid October through March - Lake Lanier is the place to be in Georgia. Daytime and night time bites are possible in these months as the fish come shallow to chase threadfin and small herring.

April and May- The peak bites in our North Georgia rivers. The Etowah River, Chestatee River, and Chattahoochee River will host sizeable runs of striped bass in these Spring months. Rainfall can decide which one of these rivers will fish best.
Late April and May will see spawning herring and threadfin shad on Lake Lanier opening a window for post spawn and schooling spotted bass and striper to run the major tributaries of the lake. This can be the most explosive surface activity of the year.

June and July- The bite on the lakes and tributary streams subside as the Striper retreat to their deep summertime haunts. On the lower sections of the Chattahoochee River, below the Morgan Falls dam, striper migrations move upriver from West Point lake during this time of year. This bite has dwindled in recent years due to overpressure and overharvest. Some years do see an added influx of fish still. Fly Fishing for Shoal Bass often takes front seat during these warmer months due to its consistency.

What To Bring and Prepare For
Guests will need at least a 1 day Georgia fishing license on our trips. Other than that come dressed for the weather. For boat trips on Lake Lanier, dress for 10-15 colder than the forecast in the winter as boat rides will be MUCH colder than the ambient air temperatures. Wind proof materials are certainly recommended.

All of our guides are teachers first. Prepare to learn A LOT about not only fly fishing but also what makes our striped bass fisheries here in North Georgia so special.
